New York's constant, energy-charged noise accosted me when I arrived in late 2007. There is rarely a moment when one is free of uninvited sound, especially when on foot through the city streets. With this in mind I created "Bright Discord"(working title), an animation using sound clips from field recordings in the urban space. From the starting point of sound, I created a stop motion animation with the newspaper boxes that stand on my street corner. This line of brightly coloured, plastic containers are in some ways a visual representation of the blasts of sound - unavoidable and assaulting; yet energized and uniting.
